HEAD VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH



SAM CALDWELL

Sam Caldwell is entering his second season at the helm at New Hope Academy, bringing 20 plus years of coaching experience and a commanding 282-84 overall record.  A proven leader and championship coach, coach Caldwell was selected as the 2014 Coach of the Year by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), and a finalist for the prestigious Pat Summit Coach of the Year Award.  He has college coaching experience at UMBC and Bowie State respectively and is one of the all-time winningest coaches in All-Navy Basketball history. 


Moreover, he was inducted into his high school’s Hall of Fame on October 11, 2013 at Luther Burbank High School (CA).  He has been recognized as one of the best high school coaches in the country, which makes the Lady Tigers a contender anytime they take the court.  The Lady Tigers made history in their inaugural season, being pre-season Nationally Ranked #18 in the country by Max Preps and USA Today.  The best is yet to come!

 


ASSOCIATE HEAD VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH



MICHELLE WATTS

Michelle Watts will be entering her 2nd season at New Hope Academy, 14th season coaching high school girls basketball overall.  Coach Watts is highly influential with the program's process of building and sustaining nationally recognized high school girls basketball teams.  As her 6th season in teaming with head Coach Sam Caldwell, while at Riverdale Baptist, Coach Watts has won 3 National Championships during the 2014-2016 seasons to include the Dick's Sporting Goods High School National Championship.  As an advisor for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) high school symposium and Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), Coach Watts is adamant about teaching young ladies how to build confidence and character through teamwork, accountability, and independence - through the game of basketball.  Coach Watts' influence toward the young ladies' development, not only as basketball players but as individuals, preparing each young lady for the quality of life challenges and lifelong achievements.
